It matters not What We Want to do... But What We Do, do... by Carol R. Bowling

Critter Adoption Reference Site
What We Do Today Will Echo for an Eternity...
(taken from the movie, The Gladiator.)

(The following applies to any non-natives.
From all of Earths plants to all of her critters...
Birds 'n bees, fox or frogs, Everything! )

(MANY CRITTERS even plants too!)
can adapt to many situations if released/escape outdoors, However...
If there's even a possibility of escape or release
Later down the road... Please,
PLEASE Think...

  • Buy responsibly

  • Look for, Request & Purchase native species

If a critter's released out of it's native environment, It's faced with challenges of adapting for
survival in a
foreign environment.

If it does manage to adapt, survive & possibly even reproduce. Natural balances can become, unbalanced... On occasion, it can lead to species a population decline, even extinction.

Domesticated birds and other critters,
Can & Do, often die, if released outside their native habitat. Even within their natural habitat, the unknown, stresses and predators are new issues many can often not adapt to...

If they are unable to make the adjustments to fending for and protecting themselves against the elements & predators, (when these are issues they've never had to know before) they will die...

Instinct can only help so much...
Just like most humans will instinctively know to seek out shelter, if a blizzard is approaching.
Or quickly get to higher ground,
(if higher ground is within our ability,) when sudden flooding occurs.
Because, instincts tell us What We should do...
Unfortunately, Instincts, Don't always, give, us the tools we need. Worse still... Instincts have even been known to be inacurate...

Known to be, Less than Perfect, on occasion.

Instincts are often ignored by both The Educated Man, and the smartest of Critters.
Resulting in, not so smart
situations.

If We, Humans, can make dangerous and or unnecessary mistakes, why can't a critter? Especially one that has not had to rely on using it's instincts previously, such as a any newly released, domesticated pet (of any type)

If You are someplace unknown, strange and/or different (or possibly similar, yet unknown to you)
You know it's not always,
as easy as, your Instincts taking over...

Your Natural, Instinct, may tell You what to do. However, it's not always, able to provide you, with what your actually needing to succeed...

Think First! DON'T RELEASE PET'S!

There are good homes or sources of help for unwanted critters, but they need to know about You, Before, they can help.

If you can't find a Sanctuary near you,
(often shelters survive on minimal budgets... advertising costs aren't in most of them)

Help Them, Help You...
Let
them know, by placing ADs in the news paper and posting flyers everywhere...

Please There are havens, sanctuaries or homes for many (most all) unwanted pets, when real effort is applied to the task... (Sometimes it just takes a little more work finding them.)

  • Always place Ads in the paper...

  • Post flyers

  • Call known shelters

  • Look for leads through Vets. Even Pet Stores.

  • Call everyone then call somemore

Never turn any domestically raised creature out.

There are places, willing to take many of these unwanted critters. You just need to get their attention so they know that you are looking for a replacement home for your pet/s...

Before getting any pet...

Think 1st!

Pets will live longer than you think!

It matters not What We Want to do...
It matters What We DO do...
